This 40-hour course that takes you from zero to autonomous flight. You receive a complete autonomous multirotor kit with FPV system and everything needed to fly — and you keep the aircraft after training. This experiential, project-based training covers everything you need to know as you build your drone, including rapid manufacture techniques and field flight operations. The package also includes resources, worksheets, and training material for ongoing reference.
Course Objectives
- Overview of drone systems and components
- 3D printing training: file management, slicer software, printer maintenance, and part production
- Airframe assembly
- Aircraft systems training during assembly: batteries and charging, autopilot, ESC, GPS, RC control system and telemetry radios, Ground Control Station software (QGroundControl or MissionPlanner), video transmitter and receiver systems, motors and propeller systems, and aircraft assembly schematics
- Antenna placement and radio system installation
- Avionics soldering and aircraft wiring
- Programming the autopilot and setting up all aircraft systems
- Flight testing and tuning the newly built aircraft
- Flying in manual stabilized and Position Hold flight modes
- Flying a waypoint mission autonomously with your new drone
- How to use and fly with FPV goggles and video systems
